Who are we?
We are set up to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s) to customers with our professional, qualified, courteous staff. Our EPC’s are provided at competitive prices and we can offer national coverage with our select agents.
What is an EPC?
An EPC is a certificate that shows in detail the energy performance of a building.
The certificate will give the properties an easy to understand rating of its energy efficiency using a scale of A-G (A being the most efficient and G being the least efficient). Also we provide recommendations to improve the properties efficiency and save money following an on site survey carried out by an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA).
Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) are being introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings. If you are buying or selling a home you now need a certificate by law. By October 2008 all buildings, whenever they are built, sold or rented out, will require one. This provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient and 'G' being the least, with the average to date being 'D'. Accredited energy assessors produce EPCs alongside an associated report which suggests improvements to make a building more energy efficient.
Why do I need an EPC?
An EPC is required on domestic and commercial properties in line with EU legislation and regulations brought in by the government.
Domestic properties:
The law states that if you are using any form of marketing to sell your home such as an advert in the paper, a poster in your window, or an online property website you will need an E.P.C. as part of the Home Information Pack. This applies even if you are selling privately and not using an Estate Agent.
Commercial properties:
The commercial EPC legislation came into force in April 2008 and now the large majority of commercial properties require a Commercial Energy Performance Certificate before marketing of the property can legally commence.
